Each year since 1974, members of the
congregations of St. Philip's Episcopal, Alum Rock Methodist, Foothill
Presbyterian, Gloria Dei Lutheran, St. John Vianney Catholic, and
St. Elias the Prophet Melkite Church have gathered for a Way of the
Cross liturgy in Alum Rock Park.
Each of the 14 stops recalls one of the characters in the Holy Week
Story. People take turns carrying the cross, and readers from the
various churches lead in the meditations.
