Welcome to St. Philips The Rev. Silito Romero has been Rector of St. Philip's Church since 2003. One of the visible signs at St. Philip's as we walk into our sanctuary is the representation of different cultures; icons, statues, cloth, colors, etc. All these different symbols give us a reminder that there is a diversity in God's creation and when we can bring them in the context of a community of faith, based in God's presence, that diversity is united in God's Love. Our traditions and customs are of such blessing to this diversity and they make sense in this context of community until they get in the way of embracing each other, until they become instruments of judgment instead of instruments of grace and love, until they become things that blind us to what God is doing in our midst instead of helping us to see much fuller the hand of God at work, transforming us, molding us. Sometimes when we try to work together, we end up working apart because of our expectation and our understanding of how things should be done. We rip and we tear at each other because others aren't serving God in the way we want them to, because they aren't doing those things we are doing, those things we think need doing and even more important, doing them in a particular way.
