I write this reflection to you before I leave to spend a week with my family in Southern California, so I thought I would share with you some of the thoughts that are going through my mind in preparation for this so long- awaited time away with my family. It has been a while since Thelma, the kids and I have had a time away that was not related to visiting family or attending to a family crisis of some sort. I'm looking forward to spending time with Jonathan and Christopher and to enjoy seeing them enjoy life, of course Thelma and I will also enjoy life with them. I think that time passes by so quickly that we could easily miss or neglect the opportunities to live and enjoy life with those we love. To some degree I believe that the disciples had some of this experience. They were so immersed in the view that Jesus would bring about a new kingdom, a kingdom that was of earthly glory, that they were not able to recognize him when he appeared to them by the sea of Tiberias in such a simple form. As they experienced the great catch of fish, Jesus is recognized but there is still an uncertainty about this person in front of them. Jesus had to share a meal with them; He had to spend time with them for them to truly believe that He was truly present. I hope that we all take time to enjoy our life with each other and with God, especially during this Easter Season so that we see and experience His love and grace even when we are not ready or able to see Him.
