Love is one of the most wonderful things in life but it is also one of the most difficult and challenging things. To love another is a difficult thing, especially when our experience of love is flawed, when we are unaware of how much we are loved, or most especially when we are full of anger or bitterness or resentment. It is helpful to have a standard, a guide so we know what true love is and it is also important to know that the love we need is within us; that it is embracing us and has the power to embrace others through us, especially to embrace those others towards whom we do not feel love. This standard and guide is found in Jesus who gave himself for us even if we were yet enemies of God, but it is in showing us that love that we have come to know what real love can accomplish. My hope for all of us is that we may indeed love as Christ loved and still loves us. In Him is the hope of the world and through Him comes that which gives life both now and eternally.
