How do you feel about being a channel of God's Grace? This week's readings from the Hebrew Scripture and the Gospel invite us to 'be and do like Jesus and Elijah; we are called to be conduits of God's grace, and we are called to have a prophetic voice. We are prophetic when we are aware of the needs irk the world around us and we speak the truth about it. The power of prophesy is in the truth of the words and the challenge those words offer people to change for the better; this is not an easy task to take on since most of the time prophets get in trouble. We should not be discouraged or let the fear stop us since each one of us is called to speak God's word of truth in a difficult world. Our voice also needs to be heard in the actions and the way that we live our lives. As a community of faith we need to ensure that we speak the truth and that we respond to this truth by our actions and our participation in things that contribute to address the realities that affect our world. Responding to this call also has it rewards; one the rewards is the knowledge that by our actions, God has been glorified and that in turn God has provided us with what is needed for the journey. We can proclaim "God has looked favorably on his people". Let us offer ourselves as channels of God's grace. Silito Take a look at some of the previous messages from the Rector |
