This Sunday's gospel has an important message about openness and about trust, it is about reaching out beyond our natural reach to embrace others, to embrace life, to embrace God. Unfortunately there is a sad truth and that is lost of us reach out only to those who come within our each. Let's think about it. We favor our friends, our family, nd our co-workers, those we play with, everyone else is an OUTSIDER". The words of Jesus "When you give a banquet, invite the :poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." These are strong words. They are a call to think beyond the boundaries that we normally think within. It is a call to spend the kind of me that we would not naturally spend with others, those ho can't return blessing for blessing, perhaps even those who can't even speak a word of gratitude, or those whom we think will just use us, as they have used so many others. As we come closer to our 50th Anniversary celebration, I invite you to hear these words, a charge to each of us, to open our eyes to see the present and the future of our church always with the understanding that the invitation to enjoy and live within the Banquet is for everyone. Most importantly for us to know that there are others that for one reason or another have not heard the invitation and that we're the ones that need to invite them.
