Our Campus

St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and School share a beautiful campus in the heart of Coral Gables, Florida. Surrounded by banyan, oak, and palm trees, the campus is nestled across the street from Salvadore Park & Tennis Center just north of The Biltmore Hotel. For more than 75 years for our Church and 65 years for our school, we have been here to learn, grow, teach, serve, and deepen our faith.

Early Childhood Playground
alt-text

Designed with our youngest students in mind, this space inspires children to explore, play, and learn. This space is set apart from the campus and available exclusively to those in PreK3 through Kindergarten.

Stone Cross
alt-text

Located between Berkley Hall and the Media Center, the Stone Cross represents our commitment to our Episcopal Values.

Media Center

Our media center is the cornerstone of the literacy program at St. Philip’s. It houses books for all grades and reading levels. In this space, students learn to navigate shelves of books, and also learn how to use media for research. The media center is one place where students hone their critical thinking skills, learning to understand an author’s perspective and check multiple sources. The media center hosts visiting authors and poets to deepen students’ understanding of prose, poetry, and a variety of other texts.

Art Room

The art room, with tall ceilings and ample natural light, is a space in which students can study, create, and explore visual art. The art curriculum covers a range of techniques and individual artists, and encourages students to experiment with a variety of mediums.

Science Room

Our science room gives students the opportunity to investigate the world around them. Students perform hands-on experiments, engage in research, form hypotheses, and learn to analyze results. The science room allows students to collaborate with peers.

Student Vegetable Garden

The garden provides a focal point for the St. Philip’s Garden Buddies program, which pairs Kindergarten and 4th grade students for hands-on learning through planting, tending, and harvesting herbs, fruits, and vegetables. The growing plants may connect to a variety of academic disciplines. Students celebrate their accomplishments in the garden by enjoying meals prepared with the produce they harvest.

1140 Coral Way

Formerly the Head of School residence, this building is now home to the admission office, infirmary, and faculty workspace.

Coral Way Entrance

Located on the historic and picturesque Coral Way, the original entrance to the campus is constructed of coral rock and features an arbor of fuchsia bougainvillea. While this entrance is no longer in use, the original placard for St. Philip’s can be viewed from the sidewalk, and the blooms continue to add color to our main field.

Flag Courtyard

Flanked by classrooms and the main office, the flag courtyard contains our flagpole as well as picnic tables for faculty and students. St. Philip’s flies the American flag and the flag of the Episcopal Church. Students in the 5th grade take great pride in raising the flags each morning and lowering them at the end of the day.

Lower School Playground

Students in 1st - 5th grade unwind, play, and explore in the lower school playground. Whether climbing the rock wall or traversing the tire obstacle course, students have fun while building physical skills such as strength and balance.

Athletic Field

In keeping with our mission to educate students spiritually, intellectually, and physically, St. Philip’s athletic field is as important to our campus life as our church and classrooms. On the field, students hone their motor skills, build strength and endurance, learn sportsmanship, and practice teamwork.

Main Office

The main office is our command center. Late arrivals and early dismissals go through the main office, and all campus visitors must check in here. The Rector and Assistant Head of School both have offices in this space.

Church

Our beautiful church is used for both worship and learning. It is the physical and spiritual heart of our community. We are proud to host weddings and concerts in this space. Most importantly, it is in our church that we gather on Wednesdays for school Eucharist, and on Sundays as a parish.

Sewanee Hall

Sewanee Hall is a multi-purpose meeting space. Parishioners gather after church on Sundays, and during the week, parents greet each other over coffee after dropping off their students. Sewanee Hall is also used for School Home Association (SHA) meetings, board meetings, and student lunch.

Music Room

The music room is the space where our young musicians gather to learn, create, and explore the many genres of music. Throughout the day, you will find students learning musical notation, rehearsing choral music, or practicing violin.

Fountain Courtyard

A welcoming place close to the entrances to the Church and School, the fountain courtyard is where our community often meets before the start of their day and says goodbye when it is time to go home.

Memorial Garden

Nestled between the beautiful banyan and oak trees of Coral Gables, the St. Philip's Memorial Garden is a tranquil setting for our memorial wall and columbarium. All are welcome to use this space for quiet reflection.

Richards House

Named after a beloved parishioner and former bishop, the Richards House is where many of our administrative staff have offices. The Richards House also serves as the hub for the Feed My Sheep sandwich ministry and donations to the Coconut Grove Crisis Food Bank.
